These questions are provided to help anyone decide if they have a problem with compulsive gambling. Answer them as honestly as you can. Most compulsive gamblers answer YES to at least seven of these questions.

The Bettors Anonymous Promises
(From the Foundation Literature of Bettors Anonymous, Page 85)
If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are halfway through:
- We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
- We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it.
- We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.
- No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others.
- That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear.
- We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows.
- Self-seeking will slip away.
- Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change.
- Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us.
- We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us.
- We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.
Are these extravagant promises? We think not. They are being fulfilled among us—sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. They will always materialize if we work for them.
Introductory Meeting Reading
(Read at the opening of every Bettors Anonymous meeting)
“We are here today because we have acknowledged our powerlessness over gambling and the unmanageability of our lives. We have discovered that gambling is an emotional illness, progressive in nature, which cannot be cured, but can be arrested one day at a time.
In Bettors Anonymous, we share our experience, strength, and hope with each other that we may solve our common problem and help others recover from compulsive gambling. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop gambling. There are no dues or fees; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. We are not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution. Our primary purpose is to stop gambling and to help other compulsive gamblers do the same.”
